This project was part of a multi-phase expansion that provided the residents of Souderton Mennonite Homes with modern amenities and conveniences organized around a Town Center. This new Town Center consists of a new main entrance with a porte-cochere, skylit lobby, chapel, gift shop, cafe, library, bank, dining area, activity centers, and a wellness center with medical suite.

    CHAPEL

The 300-seat Chapel was designed as the heart of the new Town Center providing a place where the community can gather for worship, fellowship, & celebration. It was designed as a multi-use space with activities including worship services, community events, stage performances, movies, and musical concerts. During the day the space is bathed in natural light through a two story curved glass wall that also provides for panoramic views of the campus with the focal point being the outdoor tree canopied mediation garden.

    UPPER LEVEL OF TOWN CENTER

The lower level of the new Town Center consists of a main entrance lobby with a two story rotunda and sculptural apple tree, a gift shop, bank, cafe, solarium, and fireplace lounge. The sculptural apple tree offers a reminder of long-gone orchards and the heritage of the home. "The Apple Tree was featured on CNN's show 'People in the News'.

    LOWER LEVEL OF TOWN CENTER

The upper level of the new Town Center includes a quilt room, homemaker's activity room, library, dining area, outdoor terrace gardens, solarium, lounges, and activity rooms overlooking the chapel.

    PERSONAL CARE NEIGHBORHOODS

This project also included 60 new personal care living suites on the upper two levels. They are organized around neighborhood clusters incorporating neighborhood living rooms, kitchens, and other personal care community spaces. The neighborhoods also have access to roof top garden and patio areas.
